A huge Thank you for donating - we will be making a difference
A big thank you Mary &. Archies donors. We are really thrilled to have more than met our target.
Hopefully we can make a difference to someone else's heart journey.
Archie was excited when we reached 42kms and he was presented with his 'medal. The medal was more exciting than the ice cream.
I’m confident that ‘My Marathon’ for Heart research will become an annual event.
Now I can watch him zoom around the pump tracks without jogging alongside to record the kms. I must admit I did get a few strange looks from other grandparents and parents at the playgrounds.
Gail and team from the heart foundation did awesome job supporting everyone. Emails were promptly answered and lots of encouragement given. Nothing was an issue.
We nailed 42km
Archie and Mary have completed 42kms. I will continue walking and Archie striding out on his balance bike until the end of mymarathon. We both love the adventures.
A big Thank you to everyone who supported us.
Hopefully we can make a difference to other heart sufferers and especially congenital heart repairs in young children. Early diagnosis education will make a difference.
The icecream when we finished today was very yummy.
Help Archie and Mary make a difference to kiwi hearts.
Archie is a 'Heart Kid'. He had surgery at Starship October 2023 and then with his family stayed in Ronald MacDonald House. Archie's increase in energy since surgery is already very noticeable. He's very excited to help other kids.
Mary is Archie's proud grandmother who loves the welcome smile when picking him up from daycare to gain some kms on the way home. Archie choses the route home sometimes up the hill through the pine tress or the shorter way through the playground. In the weekends our trips are longer. Its often dark when we get home. -
Despite the cold weather we manage a few kms most days and now have reached 32.3km. Archies dad bought him some bike gloves just like mine to keep his little fingers warm. They work well except when he takes them off for a drink at the College water fountain.
Our longest trip is across Wanaka from Kings drive to attempt to reach Mary’s house - we nailed it . Along the journey we did several rounds of the College pump track, time in the Dinosaur park, chasing our shadow but the highlight was a police car with flashing lights ticketing a tourist at the Watersports facility.
We can't wait to celebrate reaching 42kms next weekend. It will be with ice cream, most likely at the lake front if the weather is good.
Thank you for supporting us! I’m loving the cheerful junior company and his determination to make 42kms.
We are excited to say that so far we've raised $2625 to support The Heart Foundation research.
Best wishes,
Mary & Archie Lee

Gaining Kms
We meet after daycare and find our way home with all sorts of deviations, some not increasing our kms but it sure is fun going through the pine trees up hills over fences and lots of laughs.Support my challenge to save Kiwi hearts
This May, Mary & Archie are taking part in MyMarathon to raise funds for heart research that will help save lives.
Every 90 minutes, a person dies of heart disease.
Heart disease is the single biggest killer in New Zealand, and I want to do something to support the thousands of Kiwis whose lives are impacted by this disease every single day.
Please make a donation to support my challenge and help save Kiwi hearts.
Together, we can win the race against heart disease.
Thank you!
